I own a neckband from a leading brand equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), yet the noise cancellation in the OnePlus 2R buds appears to be on par with, if not slightly superior to, that neckband’s ANC capabilities. It’s impressive how OnePlus has managed to match or exceed the quality of ANC with their noise cancellation feature. OnePlus is undoubtedly a well-regarded brand recognized by many, and the comfort and lightweight nature of these buds stand out. The audio quality surpasses all other features, providing crisp, clear vocals and robust bass. The signature sound quality has truly won me over.

The earbuds rarely leave my home office area, shielded from outdoor elements and moisture, and I make it a point to clean them regularly. While I’m no audiophile, I enjoy a variety of music and can discern differences in sound quality across devices.
Considering this, I find the sound quality of these earbuds to be satisfactory, which is why I’ve rated them 4 stars. The audio clarity is commendable with minimal noise, and the treble is balanced to prevent hearing discomfort. However, the bass is excessively strong, leading to a 3-star rating in this aspect. The overpowering bass tends to mute other sounds, particularly noticeable with orchestral music where it becomes challenging to appreciate the nuances of each instrument. This issue can be mitigated to some extent with the “HeyMelody” app, which allows for sound profile customization including options like Balanced, Bold, Serenade, or Bass, as well as a BassWave feature for finer bass adjustment.
Another notable aspect of these earbuds highlighted by other users is the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature, exceptional for its price range. While I don’t frequently use ANC, preferring to remain aware of my environment, the functionality is surprisingly effective. It successfully blocked out the persistent hum of my aging air conditioner. The ANC does introduce a faint hissing sound when no audio is playing, which didn’t significantly bother me but might be an inconvenience for others.
